Why should I hire a professional when I can try and do it myself?

Pests are a resilient by nature and are adept at hiding and entering a our environment in places you would never think. A professional pest technician knows where to look for pests and make expert recommendations on what it will take to prevent or eliminate pests. Pestokill work to the British Pest Control Association guidelines to recognised global standards. Many products that are effective are ‘Professional use Only’ and cannot be applied by untrained personnel.

How long after the initial treatment does it take to see results?

Results will vary according to the type of pest, treatment methods and products used. For example, immediate results can be seen when a wasps nest is removed or treated with a dust or liquid pesticide. However, when using baits for ants and rodents, the process takes longer since the pests have to ingest the product for it to be effective. Your local technician will outline what your expectations for your particular problem should be. All treatment are in line with the British Pest Control Association guidelines.

What is the difference between a treatment using baits vs. sprays vs heat?

The surrounding environment and pest species will be the first consideration for our Technician. They will advise on the best treatment type for your situation.

Bait treatments offer Clients peace of mind if they prefer not to have liquid chemicals applied in their home. The type of pest, the severity of the problem and other factors determine the type of treatment that we implement. We will always choose the least amount of pesticides to minimise the impact on the surrounding environment, whilst delivering the quickest elimination possible.

Heat is used for Bed bugs, Clothes moth and stored product insects. This is a zero pesticide service for areas where conventional treatments are not suitable or the pest has built up resistance to pesticides.

Why do our pest services focus on the outside of my home when I have pests on the inside?

Pestokill prefers to stop pests before they get in your property! We check the ingress points and create a barrier around the perimeter of your home to decrease an insect’s ability to gain entry. However, if pests do gain access we have treatment methods that will effectively eliminate them.

Why do fleas and bed bugs require special treatments to control?

Fleas and bed bugs are highly mobile pests and can be carried easily between locations or within a hotel, home or apartment building. Identifying the source of the infestation and taking the proper steps to ensure a re-infestation does not occur can take multiple service visits.

Is pest management safe for my family and pets?

The products Pestokill uses to eliminate pests have been extensively tested and are approved by UK Government. The products are applied by highly-trained, certified Technicians in the right quantity to the right area.

Where possible we firstly look at non chemical use by changing the environment and proofing against pest entry. We then check that the pesticide can be deployed safely and will not come into contact with any non target species (pets or wildlife). Finallly once the options have been ruled out we will apply the correct quantity of pesticides in tamper proof devices or excluded areas to minimise exposure to other persons or creatures.

What dangers do pests pose to my family?
