FOX
Vulpes vulpes
Traditionally foxes stayed in rural areas and were pests of farmers killing chickens and small animals to survive.
In recent years foxes have moved in to towns and their scavenging has brought them closer to our homes and occassionally inside. More usually finding a gap under a budiling to live and breed.
Fox are primarily active at dusk and night. They are solitary, but they very occasionally group together in a pack.
In the wrong location fox control may be necessary to stop them killing your livestock, damaging food or for the hygiene risk when they leave their marking and fouling around your premise.
As with dogs they will also carry fleas which can be a problem when they are moved on.
If they are living beneath a building you can be proofed out with a one way trap door and hopefully relocate to a more suitable home.
No matter how cute they look, they should always be discouraged and any potential food sources secured.
